Manifest

My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Matthew 11:27

A number of years ago I wrote a song expressing a deep cry for God to “reveal” more of Himself to me. I remember getting in bed really late one night with this cry in my heart for more revelation of Jesus, as I lay there praying almost drifting off to sleep, I began hearing a melody and this lyric, “Manifest Your Presence, Manifest Your Power, Manifest Your Glory in this House.”

I was really tired that night and totally wanted to go to sleep, but I was gripped by the melody of the chorus. I quickly got up out of bed, went over to my dresser drawer where I’d kept this tiny little hand recorder at the time. I briefly sang the melody and lyrics of the chorus into the recorder, then literally threw the recorder in the drawer just so I could finally go to sleep.😄 When I awakened the next morning, I finished writing the song in about 10 minutes. Imagine my surprise to later discover some churches were singing “Manifest” in their morning worship services. Here are the lyrics to the song:

Chorus: Manifest Your Presence, Manifest Your Power, Manifest Your Glory in this House Verse 1: We need a Visitation, we need Revelation, we need more of You, we ask for more of You, We need Your Healing Power, We need You in this Hour, We need more of You we ask for more Verse 2: We need a Visitation, Habitation, we need more of You, we ask for more of You, We need Your Healing Power, we need You in this hour, we need more of You, we cry for more

This song was a cry for more revealing of Jesus and also a cry for Him to manifest in my situation. All my praying, all my studying, all my believing, searching and seeking still had not yet brought the manifestation I so desired. Well guess what? He didn’t manifest the way I expected nor in the time I expected, but He did manifest in the situation. It came through process and it was far from instantaneous, but when His manifestation finally came, it was most extravagant.

What I learned is that the amount of revelation (or manifestation) I receive is directly proportionate to my level of longing. The Son chooses whom to reveal the Father to, so the question becomes, who is a candidate for that revelation? Well, the Bible promises to FILL those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Matthew 5:6. Jesus is our righteousness, so maybe the real question is, are we hungry for more revealing of Jesus?

When Jesus took our sin upon Himself, our abundant life began. It is the “revealing” of this Jesus we carry on the inside of us that our hearts long for, it is the “revealing” of what His death and resurrection brought to our lives that we are desiring most. When we lack the revelation of Who He Is and who we've now become, when we lack revelation of all He’s done and what it means for our lives, it leaves us longing. When we receive Jesus, we receive ALL of Jesus, it is only the “revelation” of all we now possess in Christ Jesus that must be received. It is the “revelation” of His extravagant grace and the abundant life He's given us that we must now receive by faith.

Lets face it, life teaches us to “earn” not to “receive”. Often we struggle receiving the Grace Jesus offers because we feel undeserving, and the truth is, we don’t deserve it. But God's Grace is freely given and we can freely receive it today. If the measure of revelation of our loving Father comes in proportion to the measure of our desire to receive, let me ask you, how much do you long to receive?

Prayer

Thank you Lord for more revelation of Christ Jesus, for more revelation of what I possess in Him. Thank you Jesus for Your Resurrection Life in me. Help me receive ALL you've given. In Your Name I pray, Amen!
