Resting Heart Rate

For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. Hebrews 4:10

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.  Matthew 11:28-30

How is your heart? Are you just sleeping or are you resting? When our heart is physically strong it pumps more blood with each contraction, also with less beats per minute than a weaker heart. A lower "resting" heart rate can indicate a stronger heart, while a high "resting" heart rate can indicate a weaker heart as the heart must work harder for enough blood flow. In a much similar way, when we exercise the Word of God, applying it to our lives daily, we are contracting and pumping The Blood flow of the Life-Giving Spirit of God into our spirit and strengthening our heart. This can result in a lower "resting" heart rate both physically and spiritually, decreasing the effort and stress on our heart, while increasing the "resting" of our hearts.

The kind of "rest" found in Jesus is not just a heavenly rest, His Rest can face difficulty, threats, fear and burdens with absolute bold faith and quiet confidence in God, with joy, hope and great peace to meet every challenge. There is a "rest" of grace, comfort and holiness available even now, that simply comes from believing God and obeying Him. Hebrews 4:7 says we can enter into His Rest “TODAY.” Through Jesus Christ, The Way, has been made for us to enter into His Rest.

When we simply believe God and obey Him, we enter into His Rest. Hebrews 4:2-3 & 4:6 When our spirit is not at rest it is an indicator of unbelief in some area of our lives and can even point to disobedience. The Bible declares that an evil heart is a heart of unbelief. Hebrews 3:12 But when we submit our lives to Jesus Christ and live in relationship with Him, there is a rest that comes from believing God, there is a rest that comes from obeying God and we can enter into His rest.

See, the law leads us to Jesus and Jesus leads us to HIS REST. He is the place where all has been accomplished, so we enter into His Victory, we enter into His Joy, we enter into His covenant of promise and blessing. When we get Jesus, we get REST.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for true rest that only comes from being in relationship with You! Thank you for Your Word and help me walk in it, applying it daily to my life. In Your precious Name I pray, Amen!
